Connect Codex

Checked against Codex CLI 0.158.0 on 2026-09-28, not tested end-to-end

Commands checked against the --help output of Codex CLI 0.158.0. On 2026-09-20 the authorization request Codex builds — its client ID and scopes — was replayed in a browser against NameBeta's authorization server and came back with an authorization code. We have not yet run codex mcp login and a tool call from Codex itself.

Before you start

• The Codex CLI.
• A NameBeta account, or create one on the sign-in page during setup.

Add the server

codex mcp add namebeta --url https://namebeta.com/api/mcp

namebeta is the local name Codex shows for the server; pick any name you like.

Sign in

codex mcp login namebeta

codex mcp login opens your browser at the NameBeta sign-in page. Sign in and approve access. On a machine without a browser, add --no-browser: Codex prints the authorization URL, and you paste back the URL you land on after approving.

codex mcp list shows the server and whether you are signed in.

Which TLDs are still free for brewlab? Of the taken ones, which are for sale?

Codex runs check_availability. The answer should mix taken, for-sale and available domains — on 2026-09-29, brewlab.com was taken, brewlab.co for sale and brewlab.info available. A mix like that comes from a live lookup; The tool's example shows the full result.

Disconnect or switch account

• codex mcp logout namebeta signs out and keeps the server.
• codex mcp remove namebeta removes the server.
• To use a different NameBeta account, see Switch accounts.
